News | The CW leaves WGN-TV Chicago, moves to My50
If you live in Chicago, this upcoming fall, you will have to switch channels to watch your favorite CW prime time television series’.
According to Variety, WGN-TV Chicago will indeed be dropping the CW network from its lineup as the station will become an independent station. The huge change comes in form of a new agreement with CBS-Time Warner that will see WGN-TV Chicago broadcast local news, live sports, and other programming going forward. The complete overhaul is set to take place this September.
Do not be alarmed, the CW is not moving from standard television to cable. No, what this means is that the CW network will still broadcast in the windy city, just on a different station. You will be able to watch the new seasons of The Flash, Jane the Virgin, Arrow and many others this fall on WPWR-TV Chicago (My50).
The CW was first introduced to WGN-TV Chicago in 2006. It’s the end of an era.
