Recap & Photos | B96 Pepsi Jingle Bash
A serious snow storm couldn’t stop the people of Chicago from packing the Allstate Arena for the annual B96 Pepsi Jingle Bash.
B96 has out done themselves once again, as the sold-out Jingle Bash brought together the hottest acts in Pop, Rock, and Hip Hop together on one stage. Kicking off the night was Shawn Mendes, followed by Alessia Cara who both donned the 2016 World Series Champions, the Chicago Cubs jersey. They wouldn’t be the only artists who rocked the champs jerseys as Fifth Harmony all represented the city as all members wore Cubs jerseys during their performance.
Next up was DNCE, who had the crowd standing up and rocking throughout their set. Lead singer, Joe Jonas asked if there were any 90’s babies in the house, which was met with an enormous resounding roar of “yeah”. The band would proceed to perform a cover melody of 90’s hits that included the Spice Girls, Britney Spears and finishing it off with Kanye West’s Fade that transitioned into Cake By the Ocean. Jonas would even leap off the stage and finish the band’s set in the 100 level section of the arena.
Speaking of performing classics, OneRepublic reminded everyone why they’re the band to watch as they closed their awesome set with their 2007 hit, Apologize.
One would think that G-Eazy would alter his lyrics to appeal to the mostly teen crowd, but that wasn’t the case as Eazy opened his set with the When It’s Dark Out banger, Random. G-Eazy continued his set with tracks like You Got Me and Order More. At one point, G-Eazy asked everyone in attendance to “put their middle fingers up”, and you can bet both young and old fingers went up. Moms and Dads didn’t seem too mad at their kids; guess they’ll get grounded later. G-Eazy finished his set with the radio smash Me, Myself, and I, but this wouldn’t be the last time he would appear in front of the Jingle Bash audience.
The anticipation grew for Britney Spears as her name was announced as the next artist to take the stage. As the J Show introduced Britney to the stage, the arena lights faded to black, the stage turned, and Britney Spears emerged from behind her dancers to open with Work B**ch.
B96 will return to the Allstate Arena in 2017 with the B96 Pepsi Summer Bash on June 24th
